Show One β Le Monde est Γ Vous (SS25, June 2024)
The first chapter of this story begins in June 2024 when Wizkid took his seat in the front row of the Louis Vuitton Menswear Spring Summer 2025 show at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. He was seated alongside Colombian reggaeton star Maluma and American rapper Swae Lee β front row at one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world.
The show titled “Le Monde est Γ Vous” β The World Is Your Oyster β was a celebration of global diversity and human potential. Models paraded around a giant orb on a lawn sprayed with Louis Vuitton’s iconic checkerboard pattern while a live orchestra performed. The color palette was rooted in flesh tones, deliberately chosen to represent the full spectrum of human skin at a moment when Paris was preparing to host the Olympic Games.
Pharrell built the collection around three powerful archetypes. The Diplomat brought sharp 1970s-inflected tailoring in deep inky tones. The Explorer offered sturdy yet chic luxury outerwear. And the Dandy β the most spectacular of the three β strutted in jackets and coats dripping with rhinestone and pearl embroidery. Aviation themes ran through the collection with airplane-shaped pins, flight jackets and map-embossed workwear paying tribute to Louis Vuitton’s heritage as the world’s original luxury travel brand.
Wizkid’s presence at this show was a statement. An African artist sitting front row at the pinnacle of global luxury fashion β completely at home, completely belonging.
Show Two β Surf’s Up (SS27, June 2026)
Two years later Pharrell delivered what may be his most spectacular show yet. Louis Vuitton men’s creative director Pharrell Williams presented the brand’s SS27 collection on the evening of June 23rd 2026, against scenography also designed by himself. The enormous construction stood at eight metres high and over 37 metres wide, conceived to look like a tidal wave and featured real water provided by the Eau de Paris corporation.
The CitΓ© Internationale Universitaire de Paris was transformed into an inner-city beach complete with sand and a larger-than-life tidal wave cascading with water. Models emerged from a tubular structure at the centre of the swell and walked down a wooden boardwalk-style runway.
Pharrell Williams channeled his love of water into a surfing-inspired collection complete with Monogram wetsuits and logoed surfboards, designed to take the Louis Vuitton customer from the boardroom to the beach.
With an immense wave-shaped cascade as its backdrop, the house created a wardrobe that short-circuited the codes of the urban dandy with the call of the open sea.
Wetsuit-inspired bodysuits appeared alongside relaxed tailoring, skate influences and sun-washed optimistic pieces that felt genuinely wearable while remaining unmistakably luxurious.
The show featured a gospel choir backed by an 80-piece classical orchestra that elevated a largely hip-hop soundtrack, with the crowd of VIPs buzzing with energy.
This was Pharrell at his most ambitious and most personal β drawing from surf culture, beach life and the freedom of the open sea to create a fashion experience that was as much an event as it was a show.
Wizkid and Pharrell β Something Cooking in the Studio
Beyond the runway the relationship between Wizkid and Pharrell appears to be deepening in the most exciting way possible. Wizkid was recently spotted in the studio with Pharrell Williams in Paris, immediately sending social media into a frenzy. The sighting of two of the most creatively influential figures in contemporary global music sharing studio space has generated enormous speculation about a potential collaboration.
Neither Wizkid nor Pharrell has confirmed what was recorded during the session but the timing is significant. It comes shortly after the release of Wizkid’s deeply personal sixth studio album Morayo, released in November 2024 and dedicated to his late mother. His landmark album Made in Lagos remains the most-streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music β a testament to his enduring global influence.
Adding fuel to the fire Wizkid recently posted a single word on X β “Album” β with no title, no date and no further explanation. Reports of a pre-release listening party in Paris surfaced shortly after, fitting perfectly with how Wizkid typically operates. If the studio sessions with Pharrell are connected to this new album the result could be one of the most anticipated releases in Afrobeats history.
Why This All Matters
The story of Wizkid and Louis Vuitton is ultimately a story about Africa’s growing presence at the center of global culture. When an African artist sits front row at Louis Vuitton, collaborates in the studio with its creative director and hints at a new album that could carry that creative partnership into the music world, it signals something profound.
Africa is no longer looking to the world for validation. The world is looking to Africa for creativity, for energy and for cool. Wizkid at Louis Vuitton β in the front row and in the studio β is one of the most powerful symbols of that shift. The fashion world and the music world are both watching closely and what comes next promises to be extraordinary.
